'...loving my neighbourhood'
A project focusing more on what we love about where we live and less on fly-tipping & anti-social behaviour, using four existing free resources
1. Sign up to an Environmental challenge
Ideas to help your community reduce single-use plastic waste every day at home, work, school and in the streets. Also, other habits that help the planet. Examples below:
The Zero Waste Poster for home, school or work

For more activities & campaigns visit https://www.earthday.org
2. Work with your immediate neighbourhood
Using council ward maps like this one for Blenheim Park, find your street and work with your immediate neighbourhood/district.
There are around five in each ward marked in purple. You can find your Ward & Polling Districts map here
Then start planning what you're going to do together, whether it's a tidy up, some gardening, helping neighbours who are struggling. Perhaps a bigger project?
3. Sign up to Neighbourhood Watch (NHW)
Neighbourhood Watch has the support of police and the Community Safety Unit.
Go to www.essexnwa.co.uk and click on Southend to contact your Local District Co-ordinator
NHW is not just about Crime Prevention
-it's about building Community Networks, Improving the Environment and Improving Wellbeing.

4. Use Your Audio Tour free software
Working with your immediate Neighbourhood Watch group you can create your own audio tour of where you live. The story of what you love, what you've improved and the new friends you've made.
Use images, text, maps, song, spoken word - anything to expresss how you feel about your neighbourhood!
Perhaps a new nickname for your area eg 'Milton Evers' for Milton EV District, see more photos of this neighbourhood here
